WikiWand, a provider of a modern interface for Wikipedia, raised $600k in angel funding.
Saar Wilf (Chairman) made the investment.
The company is using the funds to improve the platform for the web and to develop iOS and Android apps.
Founded in 2013 by Lior Grossman (CEO) and Ilan Lewin (CTO), WikiWand is advancing an interface that optimizes Wikipedia’s content for an improved reading experience. The company leverages the fact that all articles on Wikipedia are released under a free license, which has allowed them to fetch Wikipedia pages and optimize for readability.
By using WikiWand, users support Wikipedia, as 30% of the company’s profits are donated to the Wikimedia Foundation.
