Firebase, a San Francisco, CA-based platform that allows developers to build real-time, collaborative apps via an API, has been acquired by Google (GOOG).
The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
Led by CEO James Tamplin and Andrew Lee, Firebase allows developers to sync data across web and mobile apps without having to manage connections or write complex sync logic as well as to make it easy to build applications that work offline. It has full-featured libraries for all major web and mobile platforms, including Android and iOS.
The company has raised $7m in total funding from investors like Union Square Ventures and Flybridge Venture Capital. It will be combined with Google Cloud Platform to improve its end-to-end platform for mobile application development. The entire team is joining the Mountain View giant and will be working on new features.
