Pica8, a Palo Alto, California-based provider of open systems for software defined networking (SDN), raised $12.5m in Series B funding.
The round was led by VantagePoint Capital Partners, Cross Head and Pacific Venture Partners (PVP).
The company intends to use the funds for software development and continue to expand adoption across the software defined networking (SDN) market.
Led by James Liao, CEO and co-founder, Pica8 developed open networking with PicOS™, a network operating system that enables customers to migrate from conventional networking to software-defined networking (SDN) using commodity bare metal switches. It provides support for traditional switching and routing protocols and delivers SDN solutions through its adoption of Open-vSwitch (OVS).
