Augumenta, Ltd., an Oulu, Finland-based provider of user interface tools for wearable computing, announced its first external financing of undisclosed amount.
The round was led by Butterfly Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to further accelerate its product development and go-to-market activities.
Led by Tero Aaltonen, Co-Founder and CEO, Augumenta develops interaction solutions for wearable electronics. In addition to the funding, the company has also announced release of its gesture-based control SDK to qualified developers of smart glass applications for enterprise users.
The initial release provides smart glass application developers with a vocabulary of eight dynamic gestures that allows hand signals to be used as commands. The gestures are differentiated from static and moving background objects using the single camera used in the available smart glass devices, such as the Epson Moverio BT-200 and Google Glass.
In 2015, Augumenta will expand the platform with release of an interactive virtual surface toolkit.
With a support hub in Taipei, Taiwan, the company licenses its products to global OEMs, integrators and developers.
