Dual Aperture International (DAI), a Seoul, Korea-based new smart camera technology startup, raised $5.7m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Value Invest Korea (VIK), a strategic investment firm based in Seoul, South Korea, with participation from eWBM, a licensee of DAI’s technology.
Formed by combining Dual Aperture, Inc. of Silicon Valley and the academic research institute of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) – Center for Integrated Smart Sensors (CISS) and led by Dr. David Lee, Dual Aperture International utilizes 3D image capturing and other imaging enhancements to create a multi-functional, smart sensor technology that can be integrated into many consumer, automotive, and industrial products. The company’s gesture tracking technology is also expected to help mobile camera-based applications explore new dimensions of user experience.
