FilmTrack, a Studio City, Calif.-based provider of content and rights management for the film and television industry, raised $10m in Series B funding.
The round was led by existing investors Insight Venture Partners and Dave Goldberg, the CEO of SurveyMonkey, with participation from FilmTrack founders Jason and Stephen Kassin. In conjunction with the funding, Goldberg has been added to FilmTrack’s board of directors.
The company has also acquired acquired Dashbox, a cloud-based music asset and metadata management system which allows for the sourcing, updating, hosting and managing of licensed library music, for an undisclosed amount.
The new funding and acquisition will allow FilmTrack to scale its operations, accelerate innovation and expand its suite of contract and rights management SaaS software solutions for the global music industry, which streamlines the complex intellectual property management process — from project inception to distribution — and provides a holistic view into critical data supporting rights, availabilities, contracts, invoicing, licensing, revenue recognition, royalties and workflow management.
Clients include CBS, DreamWorks Animation, Endemol, eOne, Legendary Pictures, Miramax, National Geographic and Starz.
