MicaSense, a Seattle, WA and Simi Valley, CA-based sensor and information company, raised $2m in Series A funding.
Parrot (FR0004038263 – PARRO), which has been listed on Euronext Paris since 2006, made the investment.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its engineering and manufacturing capabilities to support a growing network of customers worldwide.
Led by Dr. Gabriel Torres, Co-Founder and CEO, MicaSense provides an integrated hardware solution for agricultural remote sensing from any unmanned aerial platform, coupled with cloud-based analytics to provide crop health information to growers. Its RedEdgeā¢ is a professional-grade multispectral camera optimized to capture repeatable information across five spectral bands.
The company, which has already worked with a select group of early adopters throughout 2014 covering more than 10,000 acres of crops, is expanding its offering of sensors and data services for spring of 2015.
