Zen99, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of tax and insurance tools for independent workers, secured nearly $2.5m in seed funding.
Investors included Upside Partnership, Collaborative Fund, Y Combinator, SV Angel, CrunchFund and others.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its core team and create additional products to support the US freelance workforce.
Led by Tristan Zier, CEO and co-founder, Zen99 provides independent workers in 47 states with affordable health insurance plans through its partnership with GetInsured. Contractors can track earnings, expenses and mileage, find simplified insurance options and estimate their eligibility for tax credits that can reduce the cost of health insurance, all in one place.
The company also offers educational support and informative content.
