Pica8, a Palo Alto, California-based provider of open systems for software defined networking (SDN), received an additional investment from Mitsui & Co. Global Investment.
It added to the Series B funding round the company announced in October 2014 (read here).
Led by James Liao, CEO and co-founder, and Steve Garrison, vice president of marketing, Pica8 has developed PicOS™, a network operating system that enables customers to migrate from conventional networking to software-defined networking (SDN) using commodity bare metal switches. It supports all major routing and switching protocols and delivers SDN solutions through adoption of Open-vSwitch (OVS).
Pica8 can provide PicOS, switching hardware or both in a fully integrated package as part of an end-to-end data center SDN solution.
