U-Start, a Lugano, Switzerland-based advisory firm specializing in scouting investment opportunites, launched a private equity fund.
Led by partners Viktoriya Tigipko, Marco Valta (photo), and Teodoro D’Ambrosio, U-Start Ventures will focus on investing in digital sector startups operating in select markets.
The fund, which has a €30m final target to be reached in 2015, will be active when a first close of €10m will be achieved.
It will select opportunities in markets with structured startups counting on the support of over 60 partners including business accelerators, incubators and venture capitals. The portfolio will be comprised of seed investments in early stage startups (25-30%) and follow on investments (70-75%) in growth stage companies.
U-Start Ventures will leverage the resources of U-Start, which has teams in Brazil, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, Ukraine, Turkey, Mexico, Chile, and Italy.
