WorkAngel, a London, UK-based employee reward and recognition platform, closed a $5m Series A funding.
The round was led by Former Tesco CEO Terry Leahy with participation from Bob Willett, Chairman of MetaPack Ltd & Eagle Eye PLC, Bill Currie and Iain McDonald of William Currie Group and Lord David Alliance. In conjunction with the funding, BBC Worldwide CEO Tim Davie and advertising industry veteran Jon Claydon joined WorkAngel’s board of directors.
After a year in private beta, the company plans to launch in the UK market in February 2015 with several marquee-name clients and in the US market later in 2015.
Led by Jamie True, CEO and Founder, WorkAngel is a mobile-first technology platform that offers communication, collaboration and social recognition tools for businesses, featuring an employee benefits and rewards program. The WorkAngel Benefits offering provides cashback and discount deals at more than 1,200 online retailers and 6,000 UK restaurants, as well as cashback on local offers from websites such as Groupon and Living Social and in-store purchases from 25 major UK retailers.
