ActionSprout, a Portland, Oregon-based social media management platform for nonprofits, closed $1.7m in funding.
The round was led by the Oregon Angel Fund, with participation from the Bellingham Angel Fund, Portland Seed Fund and other west coast investors. In addition, Chris Finley, co-founder and former Vice President, Business Development at SurveyMonkey, joined ActionSprout’s board of directors.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop the application and to spread its use to more nonprofits.
Led by CEO Drew Bernard, ActionSprout provides nonprofits with tools and knowledge to use Facebook to reach more people, cultivate relationships with existing supporters, and amplify fundraising efforts. In particular, the platform features tools to allow organizations to reach and acquire email addresses from supporters, engage existing supporters beyond Likes, Comments, and Shares, and leverage the social network to amplify their off Facebook activities and fundraising efforts.
It is currently used by thousands of nonprofits, both large and small, including Sierra Club, Unicef, and Greepeace.
