FiscalNote, a Washington, DC-based technology startup that uses artificial intelligence and design to provide open data across industries, raised $10m in Series B funding.
The round was led by publicly traded Chinese social network Renren, which joined early investors Visionnaire Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, Jerry Yang/AME Cloud Ventures, Steve Case, and Mark Cuban.
The company intends to use the funds to expand into new markets.
Founded in 2013 by CEO Tim Hwang, 22, FiscalNote provides a legislative searching, tracking, and forecasting product, called Prophecy, and will introduce a regulatory product, Sonar, later this year.
Its current product suite is used by a customer base that includes Uber, both the Democratic and Republican Governors Associations, VMWare, Planned Parenthood, United Therapeutics, Allergan, Auction.com, and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
