Transcriptic, a Menlo Park, CA-based life science research platform, raised approximately $8.5m in Series A financing.
The round was led by Data Collective with participation from IA Ventures, AME Cloud Ventures, Silicon Valley Bank, 500 Startups, MITS Fund, Y Combinator, Paul Buchheit, and other angels.
Founded in February 2012 by Max Hodak, Transcriptic provides researchers in academic and industry with a web-based, on-demand remote life science research lab powered by advanced, custom robotic automation.
The Transcriptic platform has two main components: the Foundry, the molecular and cell biology execution infrastructure, and Transcriptic LIMS, the data management system that keeps track of every container, aliquot, and piece of linked data relevant to users.
The company has raised over $14m.
