Formerly Known as Atlas Closes $200m Debut VC Fund; Launches Naming Contest

According to a document filed with the SEC, Formerly Known as Atlas (FKA) closed its $200m debut venture capital fund.

27 limited partners including universities, foundations, endowments, and other institutional investors backed the fund.

Led by Ryan Moore, Christopher Lynch, Jeff Fagnan, Dustin Dolginow, Jon Karlen, Cort Johnson and Frank Castellucci, Cambridge, MA-based FKA derived from Atlas Venture, which had split its tech and life sciences into two separate funds. It invests in entrepreneurs building innovative technologies.

The firm is also running a contest (#NameaVC), which allows people to propose a name and win a $50k investment in the new fund (a $25k interest and a $25k sum to be donated to a nonprofit he/she chooses from the TUGG portfolio).
