Oxford Photovoltaics Ltd, an Oxford, UK-based solar technology company, raised £8m in the first-tranche of its Series B round of funding.
New investors from the UK, US, Asia and Europe and existing backers University of Oxford, MTI Partners Ltd, Longwall Venture Partners LLP, Parkwalk Advisors Ltd and a range of angel investors made the investment.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate the development and commercialization of its technology towards full-scale production and commercial deployment.
Formed in 2010 by Kevin Arthur, CEO, Oxford Photovoltaics is a spin-out from Oxford University that has licensed and is is developing a solid state perovskite solar cell which has the potential to deliver solar cells that can be applied as a thin film onto glass building facades.
