Silent Circle Raises $50M in Equity Funding

Silent Circle LogoSilent Circle, a Geneva, Switzerland-based enterprise privacy company, raised approximately $50m in equity funding.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its expansion.

Co-founded by Mike Janke, Phil Zimmermann, and Jon Callas, and now led by F. William “Bill” Conner, President and Chief Executive Officer, Silent Circle is a leader in an enterprise privacy delivered through a mobile ecosystem of devices, software and services.
The company is also announcing its agreement to buy out the joint venture between Silent Circle and Geeksphone, co-founder of the Blackphone project, which is expected to close this week.
The acquisition will result in Silent Circle taking a 100% ownership stake in SGP Technologies and the Blackphone product set. SGP Technologies had been formed specifically to create privacy-first smartphone Blackphone.
