OpenFin Secures $3M in Venture Capital Funding

openfinOpenFin, a New York and London-based provider of HTML5 runtime technology for the financial sector, secured $3m in venture capital funding.

The round was led by Bain Capital Ventures, Pivot Investment Partners and Nyca Partners with participation from Tom Glocer, former Thomson Reuters CEO.

The company intends to use the funds for product development and engineering team expansion in both New York and London.

Founded in 2010 and led by Mazy Dar, Chief Executive Officer, and Chuck Doerr, President and COO, OpenFin provides HTML5 runtime technology based on Google’s Chromium open-source project. Built to meet the security and performance needs of the financial industry, OpenFin’s HTML5 runtime enables native, multi-window experience, desktop integration with Java / .NET / C++ / Flex, and requires zero install.

In addition to the funding, the company also announced the hiring of Jen Collet as COO Europe, Steve Greenblatt as VP of North American Sales, and the appointments of Paul Humphrey and Aron Miodwonik as strategic advisors.

OpenFin is a graduate of the First Growth Venture Network, a New York based accelerator, and the FinTech Innovation Lab, an annual program run by the Partnership Fund for New York City and Accenture for early and growth stage fintech companies.
