FruitDay, a Shanghai, China-based fresh produce ecommerce company, closed a $70m Series C funding.
The round was led by JD.com with participation from Susquehanna International Group and ClearVue.
The company intends to use the funds for infrastructure construction, recruitment of management talent, business development and strengthening of upstream supply chain system. As part of the investment, FruitDay will leverage JD.com’s nationwide fulfilment infrastructure to expand to serve markets throughout China.
Founded by CEO Wei Wang in 2009, FruitDay is a fresh produce ecommerce company which maintains quality control over the entire logistics process, including produce selection, transportation, storage, distribution and after-sale services. The fruit is imported from countries including the US, Australia, New Zealand, Chile and South Africa, among others.
