Meteor Development Group (MDG), the San Francisco, CA-based company behind the Meteor open source application development platform, raised $20m in Series B funding.
The round was led by Matrix Partners with participation from Andreessen Horowitz and Trinity Ventures. As part of the investment, David Skok of Matrix Partners will join the board of MDG.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate engineering, support, and business operations activities.
Co-founded by Geoff Schmidt and Matt DeBergalis, Meteor is a complete open source platform for building web and mobile apps in JavaScript featuring multi-device experiences, operations capabilities, and an ecosystem of extensions, packages, and tools.
