GoFundMe, a San Diego-based personal fundraising platform, received a venture capital and growth equity investment of undisclosed amount.
The round was led by Accel Partners and TCV, with participation from Greylock, Meritech Capital, and Stripes Group.
The company intends to use the funds to grow the team, enhance product features and functionality, and expand the platform globally.
Launched in 2010 by Brad Damphousse, CEO, and Andy Ballester, CTO, GoFundMe provides an online platform for personal fundraising for individuals, groups and organizations.
To date, its campaigns have raised nearly $1.2 billion for things like medical bills, volunteer trips, community service, sports teams, and educational expenses.
