Minio, the Woodside, CA-based startup behind Minio, an open source distributed object storage software, raised $3.3M in seed funding.
The round was led by General Catalyst and Nexus Ventures with participation from Jerry Yang’s AME Cloud Ventures, Index Ventures, Mark Leslie, Brian Stevens, Ben Golub, Lanham Napier and Andrew Feldman.
The company will use the funds to develop the Minio Server, Minio Client and Minio Libraries.
Founded in November 2014 by Anand Babu Periasamy, Harshavardhana, Frederick Kautz and Garima Kapoor, Minio enables application developers to build their own cloud storage and scale to millions of users.
Application developers can access hosted Minio server at http://play.minio.io:9000 for testing and development.
It is API compatible with Amazon S3 storage service. Minio Client and Minio Libraries are also available for download at http://minio.io.
