GoButler, a NYC personal concierge service based on SMS, closed an $8 million Series A funding round.
The round was led by General Catalyst Partners with participation from Lakestar, Rocket Internet’s Global Founders Capital, Slow Ventures, BoxGroup, Ashton Kutcher & Guy Oseary’s Sound Ventures and Cherry Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to build out its product and engineering team in New York.
Founded in February 2015 by CEO Navid Hadzaad, GoButler is a free, text-based service that operates as a personal virtual assistant. The service has trained operators standing by 24/7 to fulfill users’ on-demand requests such as food delivery, travel bookings, restaurant reservations, legal requests, etc. via text message. GoButler searches the web, compares prices, reads reviews and orders using the best services and aims to allow users to save time.
It is currently available nationwide in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
To-date, the service has 100,000+ beta users and has received over 1 million requests across the six countries.
