Zealot Networks, a media and entertainment company that serves creators and entrepreneurs, purchased social publisher ViralNova.
The acquisition, of undisclosed amount, gives Zealot a scalable digital publishing platform, proprietary underlying technology and an audience for which it will create original programming.
Launched in 2013 by CEO Sean Beckner, ViralNova has developed a proprietary CMS platform designed for social publishing making it easy for writers and editors to create different types of articles including video, listicle and long-form content, enable content discovery and trend identification across the media universe. The company is on track to exceed $35 million in revenue in 2015 with approx. 100 million monthly visits and a large social following, including more than three million fans on Facebook.
Earlier in 2015, Zealot Networks had bought Threshold Interactive and Converge Media Group.
