peerfit, a Tampa, Fla.-based company that is developing a personalized wellness platform, received funding from The Florida Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research*.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Led by Ed Buckley, PhD, President, peerfit provides a platform for consumers to build their own premium fitness experience. Consumers, employers, health insurance, and family can combine dollars for each member to personalize with a digital currency for the top wellness experience.
Via a monthly subscription membership, consumers can purchase their credits to buy classes within their own city or on-the-go.
The platform is based on technology developed at the University of Florida.
*The Institute supports new company creation based on publicly-funded research, and bridges early funding gaps for companies spinning out of Florida-based universities and research institutions.
