Portr, a London, UK-based provider of an on-demand luggage delivery service, raised £3.3m in Series A funding.
Backers included two venture capital trust funds managed by fund manager Hargreave Hale and several angel investors with backgrounds in SaaS, technology and on-demand services.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its luggage delivery service, AirPortr, into new airports.
Led by Randel Darby, CEO & Founder, Portr allows customers to book luggage delivery (in advance or on the day) by a mobile app called AirPortr. Luggage is then transported to or from the airport.
Portr launched its same-day delivery service last year at London City Airport and, in addition to the funding, has secured a long-term agreement to operate at London Gatwick launching the AirPortr service in Gatwick South Terminal.
Sean McDonald, a veteran of the travel and technology industries, will join the board as a new non-executive director.
