Prenav Raises $1.2M in Seed Funding

-

prenavPrenav, a San Carlos, CA-based developer of an automated system to capture data about the world’s infrastructure using small aerial robots, raised $1.2M in seed funding.

Backers included Toivo Annus (co-founder of Skype and investor in Airware and SkyCatch), Drone.VC, Pejman Mar Ventures, and Michael Antonov (co-founder of Oculus Rift).

The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop its system.

Founded in October 2013 by Nathan Schuett and Asa Hammond, Prenav develops commercial drone systems capable of automated navigation in close proximity to cell towers and other vertical structures in order to capture detailed imagery and build accurate 3D reconstructions.
Initial focus is on imaging cell towers, wind turbines, and other tall structures to give customers the opportunity to inspect nuts, bolts, serial numbers, cabling, and damaged areas, as well as measure key components. Product launch is slated for 2016.
