Thoma Bravo, LLC, a private equity investment firm, has entered into an agreement to acquire a majority interest in Lehi, Utah-based DigiCert, a global SSL Certificate Authority (CA) and the provider of trusted certificate management solutions.
As part of the transaction, global growth private equity firm TA Associates, a current majority shareholder in DigiCert, will sell a portion of its interest and will remain as a minority shareholder.
The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Financing for the transaction was provided by Jefferies Finance LLC and Fifth Street Asset Management.
Led by Nicholas Hales, chief executive officer, and John Merrill, chief operating officer, DigiCert is a provider of SSL and other digital certificates as well as certificate lifecycle management products for e-commerce, healthcare, the Internet of Things and other emerging markets. It serves over 115,000 customers including government, finance, healthcare, education, and Fortune 500® organizations in more than 180 countries.
