Cengage Learning, a Boston, MA-based global education company, acquired Learning Objects, a Washington, D.C.-based education technology company.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Led by Derek Hamner, Chief Executive Officer, Learning Objects provides learning platform and instructional design services that allow higher education institutions to create customized and adaptive online learning programs and courses.
With its solutions, institutions can create both competency-based and traditional online programs and courses integrating publisher content, open educational resources, faculty content and other ed tech vendors’ tools.
Learning Objects will complement Cengage Learning’s existing portfolio of course solutions and enable the company to add competency-based learning, adaptive learning and open educational resources.
Led by Michael Hansen, Chief Executive Officer, Cengage Learning provides higher education and K-12, professional and library markets with content, personalized services and course-driven digital solutions to accelerate student engagement.
The company also has an office located in San Francisco, CA.
