Cloud Equity Group, an investment management company focused on opportunistic acquisitions of established web service providers, acquired Virpus, a Seattle, Washington-based Xen virtual private server and bare metal cloud hosting provider.
The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
The investment will allow the company to develop new features including high-availability setup options and customer directed on-the-fly server resource changes, as well as to expand current infrastructure to the East Coast.
These enhancements provide a significant upgrade to existing customers and will pave the way for future growth.
Founded in February of 2006 by Kenneth Odem and Nicholas Rose, Virpus is a large Xen VPS hosting provider offering both Pure SSD and SSD-Cache services out of their Seattle, Los Angeles, and Kansas City facilities. The company currently owns all of its enterprise-grade hardware which allows it to pass along savings to their end-users.
