Campo Rico Fertilizers S.A., a São Paulo-based leader in the importation and distribution of fertilizers through Northern Brazil, raised up to $40m in equity funding.
NGP Global Agribusiness Partners, a premier equity sponsor in the agribusiness sector, and an affiliate of NGP Energy Capital Management, made the investment.
The company will use the proceeds for continued growth.
Formed in 2014 and led by Benton Kirk, President and CEO, Campo Rico is a fertilizer distribution company which brings fertilizer solutions to farmers in formerly underserved markets in Northern Brazil. The company produces NPK based formulation fertilizers and is a fertilizer operator through the port of Santarém, as well as using several barge ports along the river for fertilizer deliveries.
Through blending plants in Almirante Tamandaré, Rondonopolis, and Santarém, Campo Rico currently serves several markets in Brazil and with the added investment will add capacity in the Northern region after identifying several underserved markets that can be developed.
It will have around 50 direct employees initially.
