Imply, a San Francisco, CA-based a company for interactive analytics at scale, centered around the Druid open source data store, launched with $2m in seed funding.
Khosla Ventures made the investment. In addition to the funding, Ari Zilka, former CTO of Hortonworks, joined Imply’s board.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to build the platform.
Led by Fangjin Yang, Gian Merlino and Vadim Ogievetsky, Imply has also launched a free and open source analytics platform that enables interactive and exploratory applications to be built on real-time and historical data. The platform repackages Druid and adds components that make the project easy to install, use, and manage.
In addition, the company has created Pivot, an open source, visual data explorer that lets users freely explore relations between dimensions in a dataset, and watch and analyze events as they happen.
