Impossible Foods, Inc., a Redwood City, California-based company that creates meat and dairy foods directly from simple plant ingredients, raised $108m in Series D financing.
The round was led by UBS and with participation from Viking Global Investors and earlier investors Horizons Ventures, Khosla Ventures and Bill Gates.
The company intends to use the funds to bring the first products to market.
Founded in 2011 by Patrick O. Brown, M.D., Ph.D., CEO, Impossible Foods offers animal-free meat and dairy foods with no cholesterol, hormones, antibiotics, or slaughterhouse contaminants.
The company’s Impossible Burger will be introduced in the market in 2016.
