Ourglass, a Boston, MA-based intimate social network, raised $1.6m in seed funding.
The round was led by General Catalyst Partners with participation from other investors.
The company will use the funds to roll out additional features, including video, and an option for users to create additional circles of friends.
Led by co-founder and CEO Eric Adams and designer Thomas Krueger, Ourglass has launched an iOS app that allows users to create an intimate social network for their 12 closest friends to share what they are doing on a daily basis.
The app, which is available in the Apple App store for download, also saves stories so users can go back in time and relive memories.
Instead of a traditional feed that aggregates content, Ourglass features 12 silos in the interface – one for each member of a users’ inner circle. Users can tap on each silo and explore that friend’s day.
