Deep Genomics, a Toronto, Ontario, Canada-based deep learning and genome biology startup, closed a Canadian $5m seed financing round.
The round was led by True Ventures with participation from Bloomberg Beta and other global angel investors.
The company will use the funding to grow its team of machine learning and genome biology experts and to further develop and validate its proprietary deep learning technology.
Led by Brendan Frey, CEO, Deep Genomics is advancing a deep learning-based technology that aims to sift through millions of genetic mutations to find the ones leading to disease.
Applications include genetic testing, pharmaceutical research and development, personalized medicine and improving human longevity.
