Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) has acquired Bebop, a new development platform to build and maintain enterprise applications.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
In conjunction with the acquisition, Bebop’s Diane Greene, the co-founder and CEO of VMWare, will lead a new team combining Google’s cloud businesses, including Google for Work, Cloud Platform, and Google Apps. According to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the new business will bring together product, engineering, marketing and sales and will allow the company to operate in a more integrated and coordinated way.
The acquisition aims to allow Google to improve the its capacity to provide integrated cloud products such as end-user platforms like Android and Chromebooks, infrastructure and services in Google Cloud Platform, developer frameworks for mobile and enterprise users, and end-user applications like Gmail and Docs.
