TuringSense, a Campbell, CA-based developer of wearable sports technology, completed $3m seed funding round.
Backers included Angel Plus, ChinaRock Capital, Ideosource, SV Tech Ventures, Zen Water Capital, along with several serial entrepreneurs and angel investors.
The company intends to use the funds to expand R&D, marketing and sales in support of the launch of its first product, PIVOT, as well as to further develop solutions for a wide range of other potential markets such as other sport, physical therapy, insurance compliance, rehabilitation, posture correction and virtual reality/augmented reality and gaming.
Co-founded by Limin He, CEO, Chris Lim (aka Taufik Arifin), VP of Product and Marketing, and Dr. Joseph Chamdani, CTO and VP of R&D, a technology system innovator and holder of 46 US patents, TuringSense is developing wearable technologies using biomechanics, sensors and artificial intelligence (AI) for athletes to learn complex movements and avoid injuries. The company’s technology platform also has a wide range of applications in areas such as physical therapy, insurance compliance, rehabilitation, posture correction and virtual reality/augmented reality and gaming.
Its first product is PIVOT, a wearable technology designed to improve tennis playing and training. The company is also planning future products for additional sports like golf and swimming.
