Bevi, a Boston, MA-based startup that develops smart beverage machines, raised $6.5M in Series A funding.
The round was led by Horizons Ventures, the Hong Kong based private investment fund of Mr. Li Ka-shing.
The company intends to use the funds for geographic expansion and invest in major R&D projects to improve and expand the offerings of its beverage machines.
Founded in 2013 by graduates of MIT and RISD, Bevi has developed a water cooler for offices that lets users create a variety of still, sparkling, and naturally flavored drinks, all based on filtered tap water.
The company has also developed a cloud-based system to remotely monitor and control its beverage machines.
