Menlo Park-based venture capital firm Bullpen Capital named Eric Wiesen as General Partner.
An early-stage investor and two-time founder, Wiesen has a track record of successful investments including Braintree (acq: PYPL), Makerbot (acq: SSYS), TapCommerce (acq: TWTR), Singleplatform (acq: CTCT) and Venmo (acq: Braintree). Previously a General Partner at RRE Ventures, he sourced or led over two dozen investments in the software, media technology, financial technology and consumer sectors. As an entrepreneur, he founded two companies, the first one in the 3D graphics hardware space and later in the enterprise software sector.
Early his career, Wiesen practiced law in the corporate group at Fenwick & West, where he focused on venture capital funding, high-technology M&A and public-company securities work in Silicon Valley. He is currently a board member at imgix and Yieldbot as well as an advisor to several companies. Wiesen’s current areas of focus include financial services and technology, consumer products and manufacturing, marketing technology and next-generation computer interfaces.
He holds a BA from the University of California at Berkeley, a JD from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Columbia University.
Founded by Paul Martino, Duncan Davidson, and Richard Melmon, Bullpen Capital is a second-round investor that invests in companies previously seeded by super angel funds.
