Edumedics Closes $4.2M Series A Financing

edumedicsEdumedics, a Louisville, Ky.-based healthcare delivery company, closed $4.2m Series A financing.

The round was led by Lunsford Capital, with participation from OCA Ventures and syndicate of Doug Cobb, Enterprise Angels Fund, University of Louisville Foundation, Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation, Commonwealth Seed Capital Fund, and other 13 individuals. In conjunction with the financing, Bruce Lunsford, Chairman and CEO of Lunsford Capital, and Mike Stigler, Director of Blue & Co., LLC, joined Edumedics’ board of directors. Bob Saunders, General Partner with OCA Ventures, has joined as a board observer. Investors Jack Danehy, Todd Taylor, Bob Dunn, and Bob Saunders will serve on the company’s newly-formed Sales Advisory Board.

The company will use the funds to expand to other states from its core populations in Kentucky and Maine.

Founded in 2010 by Alice Shade and Dr. Richard Goldstein, Edumedics provides a complete care management solution for populations like self-insured employers and Medicare Advantage groups who have—or are trending toward—diabetes and other chronic conditions.
The company puts nurse Practitioners face-to-face with individuals who leverage proprietary technology (called Healthward™) at the point of care in order to provide insights and recommendations to best manage health care costs, improve conditions and reduce stress and complications.
