ServiceWhale, Inc., a Trevose, PA-based online marketplace for major home improvement projects, raised an additional $1M in funding.
Backers included existing investors.
The company, which has raised $2.5M in the past 14 months, will use the funds to offer services in New York City now and in Washington, DC and Boston in 2016.
Led by Dmitri Saveliyev, founder and CEO, ServiceWhale allows homeowners to get instant, custom quotes on home improvement projects such as heating and cooling (HVAC), hot water tank replacement, flooring, interior and exterior painting, roofing, siding, windows and doors and bathroom remodeling and order them at a fixed price via patent-pending technology.
In addition to the self-service model, in September the company rolled out MyServiceWhale, a white label solution designed for contractors to instantly generate quotes directly from their own websites by installing a widget.
The company, which has been operating in and around the Philadelphia metro area since April 2015, is now expanding into New York City with initial rollout includeing the five boroughs.
