Big Switch Networks, a Santa Clara, California-based provider of hyperscale-inspired networking technologies to data centers, raised $48.5m in funding.
Backers included Morgenthaler Ventures, Silver Lake Waterman, Index Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Accton, CID Group, MSD Capital, among others. In conjunction with the funding, Dan Warmenhoven, former CEO at NetApp, and Gary Morgenthaler, joined Big Switch’s board of directors.
The company, which has secured $94M in total funding since 2010, intends to use the funds to continue to drive adoption,
Founded by Kyle Forster and led by Douglas Murray, CEO, Big Switch Networks provides Big Monitoring Fabric, a next generation network monitoring fabric, and Big Cloud Fabric, a data center fabric built using whitebox or britebox switches and SDN controller technology for new data center pods such as OpenStack private cloud, VMware NSX, big data, and VDI.
The company currently serves customer across the US, APAC and EMEA regions, in verticals including tech, financial services, government, service providers, and higher education.
