CoinDesk, an Ilford, Essex, UK-based bitcoin and blockchain industry news site, has been acquired by Digital Currency Group (DCG).
According to reports, the deal amounted to $500k/600k.
Launched in 2013 and led by CEO Jeremy Bonney, CoinDesk provides Bitcoin and digital currency news, features, prices and analysis.
According to a post on the company’s blog, the company will leverage DCG’s expertise to expand its current offerings and continue to grow operations.
Founded by Barry Silbert, New York City-based Digital Currency Group builds, incubates and seeds bitcoin and blockchain technology-related companies. It owns and operates a bitcoin brokerage firm, Genesis Trading, and a digital currency asset management firm, Grayscale Investments, which manages a publicly traded bitcoin investment vehicle, the Bitcoin Investment Trust (symbol: GBTC).
The firm is an active investor in the digital currency industry with over 50 investments in 15 different countries.
