Job Today, a Luxembourg-based mobile job marketplace that connects employers and job-seekers, raised $10m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Accel Partners with participation from Felix Capital and existing investor Mangrove Capital Partners. In conjunction with the funding, Sonali De Rycker of Accel, will be joining Job Today’s board.
The company intends to use the funds to expand into new markets beyond Spain.
Launched in May 2015 in Spain by Polina Montano and Eugene Mizin, Job Today aims to help part time and full time jobseekers find work the same day via their mobile by quickly connecting to retail and hospitality employers. From the moment they download the app, employers can see available candidates while jobseekers can access roles in the area 24/7, facilitated by location-based search. A built-in chat function allows both parties to make contact immediately. Positions are filled the same day. Employers can post jobs in minutes, see how many people have applied for a post in real time and shortlist the candidates with whom they wish to connect. Jobseekers can create their profiles in under two minutes and apply for a job in just one tap, learning within 24 hours if they have been shortlisted for it.
The company, which which also has operations in London, Paris, Barcelona and Madrid, says it has already helped over 10,000 people find work in the eight months since launch processing 2 million job applications. More than 20,000 employers have registered to post jobs, including companies like Ann Summers, Deliveroo, Reiss and YouMeSushi.
