Cwist, a Baltimore, MD-based web platform supporting learning projects for any kind of student, raised $1.25m in funding.
Backers included SFP Capital and Sagamore Ventures.
The company will use the funds, which are part of a planned $1.5m round of funding, to hire new people to strengthen and expand services for its current partners and grow its customer base.
Led by Founder Chris Sleat, Cwist provides content and a customizable online platform that brings maker-inspired activities to students, schools and consumers. The company’s learning platform turns partner content into custom interactive learning challenges that reward users, driving engagement and extending a partner’s education community. The original installation, CWIST.com, is a free, maker-education website which offers projects to allow students to make things while supporting parent and teacher goals.
