pureLiFi (formerly known as pureVLC), an Edinburgh, Scotland, UK-based light communications technology company, closed an over $2m in funding.
The company intends to use the funds for the continued commercial growth and product development.
Founded in 2012 as a spin-out from the University of Edinburgh, and led by Harald Haas, CEO, and Harald Burchardt, COO, pureLiFi develops OEM components, including LiFi (5G technology) drivers and receivers aiming to unleash Internet-of-Things applications and provide secure wireless communications in Industry 4.0 applications, and others.
Its LiFi-X consists of an access point that connects to any LED light, as well as a business card sized dongle that can be operated from any USB 2.0 enabled mobile device – providing a level of user experience that is comparable and more secure than existing wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi.
PureLiFi’s products will be integrated into smart-devices and -homes through LiFi microchips.
