Augment, a Paris, France-based developer of an augmented reality platform that allows users to envision any object in their current environment through a mobile app, raised approx. $3m in Series A funding.
Backers included Salesforce Ventures and others.
The company, which has now raised $4.7m to date, will use the funds to expand global sales and partnership programs, accelerate product development, and hire new people.
Led by Jean-Francois Chianetta, CEO, Augment leverages 3D model tracking, rendering and management capabilities to allow users to simulate their products in 3D augmented reality at scale in real-time in real environments, via their smartphones or tablets. The technology is integrated into the Salesforce1 Mobile App to bring augmented reality sales solutions to Salesforce customers.
The company currently offers clients two solutions:
– Augment for Interactive Print, which allows users to augment 2D print materials such as brochures, flyers and training manuals with digital content to create engaging augmented reality experiences, and
– Digital Sales Aid, which enables sales teams to simulate their products in their clients’ environments in augmented reality from their smartphones or tablets.
Customers include AccorHotels, Coca-Cola Germany, Engie and L’Oreal, among over 200 clients in 36 countries.
Augment, which also has commercial offices in New York City (USA) and Orlando (USA), is also looking to increase the application of its augmented reality platform to broader enterprise use cases, such as addressing repair and service issues as well.
