CurrencyFair, a Dublin, Ireland-based P2P currency exchange, raised an additional €8m in venture capital funding.
The round was led by Octopus Ventures, with participation from Proxy Ventures.
The company, which has raised apporx. €20m to date, intends to use the funds to expand operations.
Led by CEO Brett Meyers and newly appointed CMO Nils Andén, CurrencyFair allows individuals and businesses to exchange currencies and send funds to bank accounts worldwide via a P2P online marketplace. Customers can negotiate their own exchange rates with other customers going the other direction.
The company, regulated by the Irish Financial Regulator as an Authorised Payments Institution under the European Payment Services Regulations 2009, currently employs approx. 90 people.
