MyTwinPlace, a global community of travellers who share their homes without exchanging money, raised €750k in funding.
Backers included Inveready, Sabadell Venture Capital, Vincent Rosso, and other angels.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations.
Launched in 2013 in Barcelona, Spain, by Jean-Noel Saunier and Xavier Laballós, MyTwinPlace operates a global community made up of more than 35,000 travellers who share their homes without exchanging money. A collaborative platform allows members to host other travellers in their own home when it is available, and enjoy free accommodation when they travel.
Anyone can become a member of the community, signing up and adding a home listing on MyTwinPlace (primary or secondary residence, private room) is entirely free. Thanks to a points-based system, members earn and spend points per night without involving money, which enables them to find free accommodation when they travel.
Thanks to an agreement with AXA Assistance, every member of the community, hosts and guests, are insured. The insurance covers home damage incurred throughout the stay, alternative accommodation in a hotel in the event of a contingency affecting the pre-booked accommodation, and in the event of serious reasons making travelling impossible, costs of cancellation and related travel expenses.
