Microsoft Acquires Solair

microsoftMicrosoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) acquired Solair, a Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna), Italy-based IoT platform company.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Founded in 2011 by CEO and Founder Tom Davis, Solair is an Internet of Things application platform that allows businesses to make their products smarter quickly collecting data from them and feed it into processes. The platform has several applications including Smart Cities, Energy Maintenance, Metering, Vending, Machinery and Building and has been used by customers across a number of industries, including manufacturing, retail, food & beverage and transportation.

Following the acquisition, the company’s solution will be integrated with Microsoft’s Azure IoT Suite while the team will become part of Azure IoT.
